Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
This Occupational health and safety assessment series specification has been written to provide a compatible standard to the quality and environmental management standard, by which a companies management of health and safety may be assessed.
The standard does not yet have international status and so cannot be certificated in the same manner as the other two management systems, it can be awarded an interim certificate by the certification bodies who have supported BSI in the development of the standard. It should also be noted that OHSAS18001 is not a British Standard. Compliance with OHSAS18001 does not confer immunity from legal obligations. |

However, the system when properly applied provides an excellent management tool for the monitoring and effectiveness of a company's health and safety at work policies, procedures and performance. The standard is very compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO14001 and can be included in an integrated management system
